Online Classifieds is a publicly available classifieds ads service which is readily and freely available for anyone connected to the Internet or to the host's BBS. This means that anyone can view the ads, contact the sellers, and reap the benefits that Online Classifieds provides you. If you want to be about to place your own ads, and modify them, you will need to register. The registration is FREE and virtually painless. You are required to provide a valid email address, and you must go through the automated verification process. The following information is requested:

Email Address - This is the email address for people to respond to your ads. Also, in order to gain FULL access, a special verification code is sent to this email address. Once you receive the email you will need to go to the link provided and enter your user ID, password and the enclosed verification code. Failure to complete the verification will prevent you from being able to post ads.

Address1 - This is your street address. This information is not displayed to other users. This information is for use by the System Administrator.

Address2 - This is additional address information is necessary. Typically this is for apartment numbers. This information is not displayed to other users. This information is for use by the System Administrator.

City - This is the city name where you live. This information is not displayed to other users. This information is for use by the System Administrator.

State - This is the state where you live. A drop down list is provided. If for some reason yours is not listed, select the closest one to your location. This information is not displayed to other users. This information is for use by the System Administrator.

Zip - This is your mailing address zip code. This information is not displayed to other users. This information is for use by the System Administrator.

Country - This is the country where you live. This information is not displayed to other users. This information is for use by the System Administrator.

An acknowledgement that you AGREE to the TERMS and CONDITION for using this service - This field is required and must be the word "Agree". Failure to type this word in will prevent you from being able to post ads. By entering the word "Agree", you are acknowledging that you read and will abide by the TERMS and condition of use.

To place an ad you must have created a user account (which is FREE). On the web side of Online Classifieds almost ever web page has a link like this:

Clicking on this link will take you to the Validation screen where you must provide your user ID, password and select the category from the drop down list where you want to post your ad (note, there are 18 different categories to choose from). Make sure to select the most appropriate category for the item you wish to place an ad on. Once all information is correctly entered then click on the button entitled "Click Here to Validate Your Access". The Validation screen should look like this:

If you enter a bad User ID and/or password, you will get an error screen that looks something like the following. Use the BACK button in your web browser (often marked with an arrow pointing to the left), and correct the error as indicated on the screen:

Otherwise, if you correctly enter a valid user ID and password, you will be presented with the ADD ITEM screen as shown below. Please note that the category name is displayed on the screen and can not be changed. If the wrong category is displayed then use the back button in your web browser to return to the previous screen. Now all you need to do is either tab to or use your mouse to get to the various fields, and key in your information. Once you have filled out all the fields completely, then click on the button entitled "Click Here to Place Your Ad". If make any mistakes, you will get an error screen informing you of the first error and then you can use the BACK button in your browser to go correct the mistake. Here are a list of the fields that contained in an ad and how they are used:

Short Description: This field should provide a summary of the item being advertised and can NOT exceed 65 characters.

The Cost: This is the cost of the item. If cost doesn't apply (like in the Personals or Free categories), then leave it blank. If entering a dollar amount, do NOT enter the dollar sign ($), but do enter the decimal point between dollars and cents, e.g., 10.99

Quantity: The quantity is the number of items you have. If none is entered, it assumes 1. If you have an unlimited supply then enter 9999999. In some cases you may want to specify a variable. It this case put the lowest number and specify in the Full Description more definitive, and/or ranges of information as appropriate. A good example of this might be if you are looking to buy some tickets for a particular event and you want at least 2 but may be willing be buy up to 6 tickets.

Date Ad Expires: This date is VERY important. This is the last day your Ad will be displayed. The day after this date, the ad will be removed and you will be notified via email. In some cases certain categories may have limitation on how long an ad can run. If you contact the System Administrator, you may be able to negotiate a longer time, and may even be able to qualify to post ads for an unlimited amount of time in ANY category. Contact the System Administrator regarding these possibilities. In most cases you will be required to pay for this level of service but you will usually find it to be quite cost effective, especially if you plan on selling products or services on a recurring basis. Your System Administrator advertises these web pages in the various Internet Web Crawler and Search Engines which means that your ad will get LOTS of exposure, and therefore you will most likely get a higher number of potential as well as actual buyers!

Upon successfully entry of your User ID and password, then you click the button entitled "Click Here to Validate Your Access". As long as you enter the User ID and password correctly and you are the poster of the ad, then it will be deleted and you will be returned to the main Online Classifieds menu.
